Bob Dao is a research data scientist with experience in data science and advanced analytics. He is currently a research contractor in Security Data Analysis - joint project of RMIT University and Telstra Corporation Limited. He is serving as a teaching associate in Data Science at Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University as well as a casual academic at School of Information Technology, Deakin University. Prior to these position, he served as a postdoctoral research assistant at Centre for Pattern Recognition and Data Analytics (PRaDA), Deakin University. He obtained his Ph.D degree in Information Technology with a strong background on applied machine learning, social media analysis and health analytics from Deakin University. In his recent work, he has been in charge of implementing machine learning techniques for various research problems, such as predicting health outcomes, detecting activities using hospital data as well as temporal data, or mining social interaction patterns from social media data. Before coming to Deakin University, he obtained his Bachelor of Computer Science (Informatics) from Hanoi University of Science, Vietnam in 2000.
In 2008, he received his Master degree in Science and Technology Education from La Trobe University, Australia. Until 2010 he has a
lecturer and developer position in Department of Science, Binh Dinh Province's Teacher Training College, Vietnam. From 2010 onwards, he also served as a senior lecturer in IT as well as an acting dean of Faculty of Information Technology, Binh Dinh College, Quy Nhon City, Vietnam. His research has won Best Runner-Up Student Paper Award
at IEEE-RIVF 2016 and IEEE CIS Travel Grant Award at IEEE-DSAA 2015. He is a member of the IEEE and IEEE CIS. His CV can be obtained here. |
